Deveaux’s 14th of the season not enough as Marlies drop second straight game

(TORONTO) – The Bulldogs erased a 1-0 first period deficit and defeated the Marlies 2-1 on Saturday night in front of 5,868 fans at Ricoh Coliseum.

Despite the Marlies being outplayed and outshot in the first period, they went into the first intermission with a 1-0 lead.

Andre Deveaux tipped in a point shot from Brendan Mikkelson on the power play to put the Marlies on the board on their first shot of the game. Jonas Frogren collected the assist on Deveaux’s team-leading 14th goal of the season.

Joey MacDonald stood on his head, making 14 saves in the opening stanza.

The Bulldogs kept up the tempo in the second period and it finally paid off. Mike Glumac scored twice early in the second period to put Hamilton in front 2-1. Glumac’s 12th and 13th of the season came just over two minutes apart.

Hamilton out-shot the Marlies 32-6 after 40 minutes.

The Marlies had a few chances on a power play mid-way through the third period, but couldn’t beat Bulldogs starting goalie Curtis Sanford.

Toronto’s power play went 1-for-5 in the game.

Deveaux has registered a point in three straight contests.

Toronto will play their next four games on the road, beginning with a tilt on Monday night against the Heat in Abbotsford with puck-drop scheduled for 10:30 p.m. (ET).
