Pogge Makes 26 Saves For Win As Marlies Are Back In Playoff Spot

(WINNIPEG, MB) – In the see-saw battle for the playoffs, the Marlies are back in the drivers seat for the final spot in the North Division.

Justin Pogge made 26 saves and Jay Rosehill scored the game winning goal early in the third period as Toronto scored a 3-1 win over the Manitoba Moose on Friday night in Winnipeg.
Joe Ryan and Ryan Hamilton had the other Toronto goals, while Dusty Collins had the loan Moose goal.

Ryan opened the scoring on the power play early in the second period, when his shot towards the net, was tipped off the stick of Nathan McIver and past Cory Schneider for the lead. Collins tied the game midway through the period, when Alexandre Bolduc set him up in front for a wide open net making it a 1-1 game.

In the third, Rosehill knocked down a puck behind the Moose net, and tucked in a wrap-around shot behind Schneider for the eventual game winner. Toronto weathered the storm late in the third, before Hamilton added the empty net goal to seal the win.
Schneider finished with 23 saves on the night.

Thanks to a 3-2 shootout win by Rockford over Syracuse, the Marlies have a one point lead over the Crunch for the final playoff spot in the North.

The Moose and Marlies will tangle again on Saturday night in Winnipeg.
