Marlies Add Josh Engel on PTO

Marlies Look to Build off 10-Goal Game with Sold-Out Contest Versus Crunch on Wednesday Morning


Jeff Jackson, General Manager of the Toronto Marlies, announced today that the club has signed defenceman Josh Engel to a professional try-out contract.


Engel, 24, has appeared in 36 games this season with the Gwinnett Gladiators of the ECHL where he collected two goals and 12 assists for 14 points along with 12 penalty minutes. Engel ranks second on the Gladiators with a plus-four rating. The 6’4” native of Rice Lake, Wisconsin also played in four games with the Providence Bruins earlier this season, collecting zero points and two penalty minutes.


Prior to turning pro this season, Engel played at the University of Wisconsin from 2004-08 and appeared in 100 games for the Badgers collecting 17 points (three goals, 14 assists).
The Marlies continue their 11-game home stand when they host the Syracuse Crunch – AHL affiliate of the Columbus Blue Jackets– at Ricoh Coliseum on Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. for their second school day game of the season.
