August 10, 2009

Brian Burke, president and general manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs, announced Monday that the hockey club has acquired a conditional draft pick in 2011 from the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for goaltender Justin Pogge.

Pogge, 23, played in seven games for the Maple Leafs last season, earning a record of 1-4-1, a 4.35 goals against average and a .844 save percentage. He made 19 saves and earned the win in his NHL debut, a 6-2 victory at Atlanta on December 22. In 53 games with the AHL’s Toronto Marlies the 6-3, 204-pound goaltender registered a 2.70 goals against average and a 26-21-5 record.

A native of Fort McMurray, Alberta, Pogge was Toronto’s first choice, 90th overall, in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
