Stapleton opened the scoring 1:22 into the game, when his shot from the right circle; beat Scott Munroe on the stick side. Sifers increased the lead to 2-0 at the midway point of the period on the power play, when he tapped home a Jeremy Williams rebound into the Philly goal.
Hamilton scored the loan goal of the second period, when he found a loose puck in the slot and tucked it behind Munroe for the 3-0 lead.

The Phantoms pressed in the third period firing 15 shots on Munro, but he was solid keeping the door closed. That included a power play when the Phantoms called Bates Battaglia on an illegal stick.

The Marlies were 1 for 4 on the power play, while holding the Phantoms scoreless on five man advantages.
